Boat Holidays in France - Brittany

The region of Brittany has taken the decision to lower the reaches on the Nantes-Brest canal to 80cm, which makes navigation impossible in this sector. Cruise France regrets that this means we can no longer sell holidays to Brittany for the remainder of 2022.

Barge holidays from St Martin sur Oust base

Brittany is a land of vast skies, ancient granite villages, and prehistoric monuments. Redon, at the crossroads of the Vilaine and the Canal de Nantes à Brest is your gateway to the legends of Merlin the wizard.

Pass the Isle of Magpies, perfect setting for a fable. Next Gacilly with its mossy lanes and eel-filled reedbeds so beautiful in the morning light, then on to Josselin where the castle's mighty turrets are reflected in the canal. Pause too at Malestroit to admire its half-timbered houses.

Alternatively cruise to Rennes across the mysterious Breton landscape - a leisurely route with few locks.
