The
lower River Lot traverses a countryside of plum orchards alternating
with medieval villages such as Clairac, Granges, and Castlemoron
wiith their half-timbered houses. At Temple-sur-Lot gain an
insight into 12th century religious art and visit the showgarden
of a world-famour breeder of waterlilies.
Casseneuil, the town of three rivers, is a Venice is miniature,
with superb frescoes in its church and a citadel which can
be visited by dinghy.
Villeneuve-sur-Lot
shows the stormy history of the region, whilst Penne d'Agenais
and St Sylvestre offer unforgettabke views over the river
and the ruins of Richard the Lionheart's castle.
Locks work with an electronic smartcard and are open between
9am and 7pm. St Sylvestre is only available on one-way cruises
with Agen (see Aquitaine). |
